We were in London for the extreme heat of July 2022. We met Clarissa by a referral from the concierge at our hotel and she responded quickly to our request for a guide. We ended up having two tours with her. First, we did a walking tour of new and old London seeing both the modern buildings and some of the older lanes and alleys of the city and how their juxtaposition helped us understand the history of the city from different perspectives.
We then engaged her for a visit to the British Museum where her knowledge of ancient history was on display. Then things got interesting. The heat wave caused the museum to close very early in our tour and we had to exit the building. Not to be dissuaded, we found a cab out front, headed for the National Gallery and Clarissa picked up as if nothing had happened transitioning from ancient sculptures to Renaissance paintings without missing a beat.
Her knowledge and expertise along with her charming nature made our time together both enjoyable and culturally enriching.

Many thanks for creating such a wealth of information and entertainment for my afternoon! I can see that it must absolutely transform your enjoyment and pleasure of London to know so much (not easy to cram in so many facts. I have a PA who’s training to be a blue badge guide and she’s found it full on!) Of course, one would have to live many life times in order to absorb all the history.

My family, including two teenagers, were captivated by Clarissa Skinner’s virtual tour of Mayfair. Not only did she make us all feel welcome, comfortable and part of a group she entertained and astounded us with fascinating facts and unusual stories that we would never have known by just walking through Mayfair alone. The google map illustrated exactly where we were going and the images and video clips made you feel so much closer to the real thing than we would have thought possible. Her enthusiasm was infectious and her honesty when asked some challenging questions was refreshing. In this era of technology and Wikipedia answers to every question it was much more satisfying to discuss these questions and then receive a well researched and interesting email from Clarissa as a follow-up. I recently attended Clarissa’s Virtual Tour of Mayfair: Blue Bloods, Clubs, Fops and Dandies on Zoom. It was the first time I’ve experienced a virtual tour, but it was all really well set up and very simple to join, and I’m so glad I did! It was a highly enjoyable, entertaining well researched jaunt around this intriguing part of London, all given by a knowledgeable enthusiastic guide. I’m very much looking forward to her next tour – it’ll be the perfect treat for a weekend afternoon.

"Clarissa was wonderful help that day and even though we missed "seeing London" it was so helpful to have her with us as we negotiated getting the medical help we needed. Please tell her again how much we appreciated her help. I tried to "get rid of her" (!) on several occasions as, once we were at the hospital, we were certainly capable of getting a taxi back to hotel. But she refused to leave our side.... except to get anything we needed! One thing we had wanted to do while in London, was eat fish & chips, so she had the taxi drop us at a place around the corner from the hotel. Then, without our knowing, she went to the hotel and brought us back one of their umbrellas as it had started to drizzle. She is truly a gem; please tell her again how much we appreciated her help!!"

Oh, my gosh – what a wonderful tour!
I especially want to thank our afternoon guide, Clarissa Skinner, and one of the Doorkeepers, whose name was Rob (I don’t know his surname.) Clarissa was very knowledgeable as I’m sure all the guides are – yet with a personality that shone through as well in some of the anecdotes she mentioned. She was lovely.
